Summer Spotlight Series {The Happy Housie}

July 3, 2014

This is the fourth week of our Summer Spotlight Series, and this week we’re featuring Krista from The Happy Housie!  She’s a ‘boy mom’ like yours truly, and has just finished creating an AWESOME room for her two boys!  Seriously … that room, along with the rest of her home is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!  I sorta wish she would come over and makeover ours!!  She is a true inspiration, and if you don’t know her and her blog … now is the time to acquaint yourself!!  Enjoy this post, then stop over and say ‘hello’ to Krista!

Our lovely co-host, Susan, from Oh My! Creative has put together our Spotlight this week, so I’ll let her take it away …

The Summer Spotlight is a collaborative effort to showcase great ideas from a different talented blogger each Friday throughout the summer months. Follow my co-hosts and I online to see the great ideas we share year-round:

Hello, I am Susan from Oh My! Creative, and this week I am here to share with you some of Krista’s amazing home projects! I have been following along with Krista and her blog The Happy Housie for a few years. We connected through social media on google+ and through the Whimsy Wednesday link party at Oh My! Creative. It never fails as I am selecting some of my favorite projects for the week that I almost always select one of Krista’s! She creates beautiful spaces {just look at her deck below} amazing furniture makeovers as well as wonderful seasonal decor! I know you will love her style and creative projects! Let’s take a look and see what she’s sharing…

Thrifty Ideas For Decking Out Your Deck!

Hello everyone! My name is Krista and I blog over at The Happy Housie. I called my blog this because I think of myself as a ‘housie’: someone whose hobby and passion is all kinds of house related pursuits like DIY, decorating, crafts, organizing, and making old things new again.

I have been “this way” as long as I can remember… when most girls were playing Barbies I was redecorating their dream house (and van) and when other girls were reading BOP and Sassy magazines I was spending many a fabulous hour with my IKEA catalogue and house plan books…creating to-scale drawings of my “dream” home on my big old pad of graph paper.

As an adult I realize that there is no such thing as a “dream” home and that every home we have lived in (four in twelve years) becomes our “dream” home when we add our own imprint upon it. Whether we are decorating (or re-decorating), completing DIY projects, crafting, organizing, or just having fun living – there is always something new happening around here, and this blog is all about my journey through life as a born’n’bred housie.

In my spare time from all our “housie” related exploits I squeeze in time with my DIY-ing husband and my two wonderfully busy little boys as well as an almost full time job teaching Kindergarten.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful 4th and a wonderful weekend!  We’ll be hitting up the ‘kiddie parade’, BBQ’ing, and probably lots of swimming in Grandma’s pool tomorrow.  I have a fun and festive guest post for you tomorrow, too, so be sure to stop on back!

    I am a huge fan of Krista’s site, so many creative ideas!! The boys room is amazing, it gave me inspiration to turn my boys from into a nautical theme. She amazes me time after time with her creative projects for the house. She’s truly an inspiration for me and makes me want to redo my entire house. It was really fun reading a little about her.
