HO, HO, HO … got it.
That was Matt’s comment on our new pillow covers. I was just waiting for him to say something about the HO pillows (still not sure if that means he likes them or not … guessing he probably doesn’t really care too much one way or another).
We decided on red and white Christmas decor for our main family room. I’m still working on decorating it, but it was obvious that we needed to do something about our throw pillows. Currently, they’re orange and navy (and in desperate need of updating as is). This color combo, especially the orange, doesn’t exactly work with my plan.
New, red and white, pillow covers to the rescue! I was SOOO tempted to just buy some. Joss and Main, One Kings Lane, etc all have such cute options, but I just couldn’t spend the $30 + on each pillow just for our Christmas decor.
Off to Joann…
The first set I stenciled on using multi-surface paint:
I simply stenciled on the white canvas and let dry. I cut two pieces of red canvas for the back of the covers. To sew the pillows, I used Krista’s two piece envelope method (from the Happy Housie) which was super quick and easy!
For the second set, I simply cut the tree shape out of burlap and sewed it onto the front chevron print. I purposely frayed the edges of the tree after sewing. Then I used the same envelope method to sew the pillow cover together. The chevron fabric I used Riley Blake Medium Chevron in Red found here.
Much better than the orange and navy (now I just need to change out that orange rug! Ha!).
Stayed tuned for the rest of the red and white decor for this room.
