14 Last Minute Halloween Costume Ideas from View From The Fridge

Now … I’m not intending to put any extra stress on you this Monday morning, but in case it’s slipped your mind … Halloween is Friday.  THIS Friday.  I’m sure you’ve all had your costumes planned and made for months (not at all the case in our household), but if not … I’ve rounded up some great last minute ideas for everyone in the household (including one for the dog!).

14 Last Minute Halloween Costume Ideas from View From The Fridge

Before you put the swim masks away for the winter, how about using them to complete these adorable DIY Scuba Diver Costumes from Delineate Your Dwelling.  Two liter pop bottles, paint, some electrical tape, and a black outfit, and you’re set!  Easy peasy, and SO adorable!

If you have little boys, there’s a definite possibility that they are into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles this year.  Make this easy TMNT Costume from Crafts By Courtney with a turkey pan, paint, and some felt (no sewing involved)!!

Black Socks, black sweatshirt, and black gloves … instant spider!  I love the simplicity of this Spider Costume from Mad In Crafts!  Or do grey and go as an octopus (you’d need two more socks, however)???

How absolutely adorable is this Lion below?  All you need is yarn and a yellow shirt to make this No Sew Lion Costume from A Night Owl Blog.

Turn your old pillowcases into a cute costume for a little one!  This Pillowcase Pumpkin Dress from Gingerly Made is so easy and quick (or see the Ghost dress made from a white pillowcase).

Put your hula hoops to good use and make DIY Planet Halloween Costumes from Delineate Your Dwelling.

Do you have any packing peanuts laying around?  Grab them, some felt, and some styrofoam and make this creative Sensational Sushi Costume from Sequins in the South.  Cotton balls might work, too, if you can’t find any packing peanuts around???

Another costume that I am just loving is this Homemade Jellyfish from Giggles Galore.  10 minutes, and just a fun and colorful costume!

Do you have any Lord Of The Rings fans in your house?  These DIY Hobbit Costumes from Sweet Little Ones are perfect!  Lots of felt and very little sewing required!  My favorite part?  The little hairy feet … just hilarious!!

You need some red tulle for this costume (which you probably don’t have on hand), run out and get some, and then this DIY Elmo Costume from Do Try This At Home is quick and easy … and adorable!!

Now … if you’re in need of a costume yourself, how about a DIY Scarecrow like this one from The Blue Eyed Dove?  Flannel shirt, faux sunflowers, and a hat made of burlap!

Another costume that has endless possibilities is Barbie.  You’ll probably need a blonde wig, but beyond that just find some ridiculous articles of clothes from your closet (or Gooodwill)?  Erin from the Blue Eyed Dove does it great HERE:

And you may have remembered the Piñata idea I shared a couple weeks ago.  Paper Streamers, a sewing machine, and an hour or so is all it takes to turn yourself into a Piñata!

Make this easy DIY Piñata Costume for Halloween this year! Great last minute idea! See the full tutorial at View From The Fridge

And last, but not least, let’s not forget the dog!  Every time I see this picture below it makes me smile.  Turn your dog into a Fairy Princess with this idea from Melissa at A Prudent Life (and for only $4)!!

So … if you are costume-less at the moment, I hope I’ve inspired you to throw something together this week!  I’m constantly amazed at the creativity of others to come up with these ideas!

And … just in case you’re wondering, we went the opposite of creative and DIY this year:

Let me introduce my two {straight up, store-bought} spidermen …

They sure are a cute pair of superheroes (even if they are very unoriginal this year), aren’t they?!?  I’m a bit biased …

And the duo was also accompanied by their superhero baby brother, Ben (a.k.a. Batman … with a huge mosquito bite on his head):

Thanks for stopping by today!  How about you …. going the DIY, creative, original costume idea this year or taking the easy way out with store-bought generic-ness (which, by the way, doesn’t seem to matter one bit to my boys!).

Maybe next year we’ll come up with something more original …
