Halloween Home Tour from View From The Fridge. Lots of fun, simple, and unique ideas

Happy Friday!  There are exactly two weeks until Halloween … two!  Do you decorate for the holiday?

We have some neighbors that go ALL OUT.  It’s awesome.  But I also know lots of people that don’t decorate for Halloween (besides maybe a couple pumpkins out front).  We’re somewhere in the middle.  I hate clutter.  I hate extra stuff, but I do love changing things up once and a while.  I also love how Owen gets excited about holidays now, and the decorations that come with them.

So … whether you’re anti-decorating OR all about it … we’ve got a ton of fun homes to ‘tour’ today.  They might serve as some inspiration if you love decorating for Halloween OR, if you’re not a decorator … it’s super entertaining to see what others come up with.  I’m simply amazed with the creativity of these other ladies!

So … let me show you around our home, and then be sure to stop over and check out the other homes on the tour!

I’ll warn you now, we don’t do scary.  Or gross.  At least not yet.  My boys are still little, so we like pumpkins.  A couple bats and one skull make an appearance in our decor this year, but mostly … pumpkins.

Anyway … on with it:

We’ll start with my favorite part of the outside of our home … the front porch:

Now … if you’ve seen our Fall Home Tour, many things on this tour will look similar.  BUT …. we have added some things, so I hope you’ll check out what’s new in the Stahl household for Halloween.

These fancy pillow wraps you’ve seen before, but I still love ’em, so they’re popping up here again.  I only wish I could say I DIY’d ’em instead of buying (there’s only so much time in the day, right?!?) …

And you’ll probably also notice some familiar items here near the door:

That Easy 5 Minute Fall Wreath is still up, but we’ve added some big pumpkins, and that welcoming Wood Slice Pumpkin Sign:

I also made this chalkboard sign out of an old cabinet door that I found in our basement (tutorial coming some day …).  I simply changed up the words from the Fall Home Tour, ‘Happy Fall’, to a more Halloween inspired theme with ‘Trick or Treat’ (original … I know)!

And … I simply loved visiting all the other homes on the Fall Tour, I had to copy many of their ideas to add a picture of ourselves ‘welcoming you into our house’.

If you pop in, this is how we will greet you:  barefoot, Ben in hand (he’s the happiest baby ever … as long as he’s always being held,  always.), and Molly checking you out in the background:

Be sure to make it to the end of our tour to see how we greet you at night (ha!).

Okay … now to the inside of our home.  Here’s the Living Room that you should recognize, but with one important addition (my new favorite thing … ever), curtains!!

Halloween Home Tour from View From The Fridge. Lots of fun, simple, and unique ideas

As for the Halloween decor in here, we mostly kept it to pumpkins and hints of orange.  No skulls.  No crows.  No skeletons.  No cobwebs faux cobwebs (there’s plenty of real ones, I’m sure).

If you remember from the Fall Tour, Molly loves her chair … and NEVER moves (unless there’s a knock at the door).  I gave up trying to move her for pictures.  If you come over and sit in that chair, however, prepare to leave with dog hair ALL OVER.  I’m sorry.  I should clean it one of these days.  #inmysparetime  But how awesome are those West Elm Curtains?!?

A couple new pictures we added for Halloween are these Watercolor Book Page ‘art’ pieces.  Art … ha!  Does this count as art?!?  This small wall space needed something, but nothing obnoxious.  Black, white, and grey book page art with a touch of gold is exactly what this space needed (tutorial coming Monday)!

Molly is still there… see her?

Our mantel by the fireplace has these little gold pumpkins (a Goodwill find that I spray painted) that sit in front of our BE GRATEFUL ‘Pallet’ Art.

Our Dining Room is finally all painted.  Thanks neighbor, Dave.  But … we still don’t have chairs for our table.  I stole our kitchen chairs again for this picture.  Chairs are expensive, I tell ya!  I’m determined to either buy some repurposed / made over chairs OR do it myself with thrift store chairs.  Our table cost $200.  I just can’t justify spending 8x that amount for the 8 chairs we need.

I showed you my fancy old-door-made-console-table in our Fall Tour with this Target pumpkin on it, but I decided the pumpkin needed a friend.  What says Halloween and Fall better than a giraffe, right?  :)

Ha!

He is sentimental, though (my Grandpa carved him), so he makes his way around the house.  I already turned him gold long ago, but for this season he got a ‘Happy Fall’ tag.  Maybe a fox would have been more appropriate, by I didn’t have a hand carved, meaningful one of those on hand to keep my pumpkin company.

We had a party last Saturday here, and I found these awesome wine bottle stoppers at Target:

I just couldn’t pass ’em by.  How cute are they?!?!

More Hydrangeas for the dining room table (and that cute Bamboo/Twig vase on that awesome Reversible Table Runner).

And did you spot that Happy Halloween No Sew Pillow hanging out in the corner?

And, if you’re wondering where those awesome Sailor’s Mirrors came from … check out this Anthro Knock Off project and be amazed how inexpensive and easy these are.

Moving on to our 4 season porch …

We have these hole-in-the-wall-used-to-be-a-fish-tank-but-I-hate-fish-shelves thing going on between our living room and 4 season porch.  It’s my favorite place to decorate with the seasons.  Check out my Halloween ensemble:

I made that Book Page BOO Banner, and shared the tutorial over on My Crafty Spot last week.

I paired that with more black, white, and metallics, and I love how it turned out!

A last minute addition was our ribbon bats in the ‘tree’:

Halloween Home Tour from View From The Fridge. Lots of fun, simple, and unique ideas

These little bats were SO simple.  Cut black ribbon, tie it in a double knot, attach to very thin floral wire, and hang from your branches.  Add white or silver eyes with some puff paint!  The wire allows you to position the bats in fun ways rather than just hanging from the branches!

Then there’s these guys … these Marshall’s clearance find + spray paint apples and pears:

Halloween Home Tour from View From The Fridge. Lots of fun, simple, and unique ideas

A little glam to the space.

And now for the rustic element … these Book Page Pumpkins:

One of these days we’ll finish making over our office (I promised the same thing in January … sorry you’re still waiting).  But my stag (who usually has a pink flower in his rack), got a Halloween makeover, too.

Superhero Stag:

Who’s that masked man stag?

Why not … we have a million of these masks left over from the Superhero party 4 months ago.

And our ONE skull.  He’s guarding our liquor.

Want some vodka?  Watch out for the creepy spray painted skull over there!

Hi there, creeper:

And let’s remember our fancy fall kitchen table (which is never actually set like this except for this picture..):

And … speaking of the kitchen, we did make some festive Googly Eye Cupcake toppers.  Perfect non-scary touch to your kid friendly Halloween Party!

That officially concludes our Halloween Tour today!

BUT … I said I’d show you how we plan to greet Trick-or-Treaters (or any guests after the sun goes down):

Great tour, Katie! I loved every part of it from the giraffe to the ribbon bats and gold skeleton…but my fav part is the end where you “pic-monkeyed” yourself into the witch! What a fun idea :) And I must say if I didn’t know better I might have thought you actually painted yourself green. Cool effect!

Hi, love your Halloween photos! I’m new so you may have already talked about this but……
I’m all about anything feathers right now. Is there a tutorial for the feather print?
(Just below the gold skull on bookshelf)
    Thank you,
    Natalie :)

    • Reply Katie October 20, 2014 at 7:24 am

HI Natalie! Thanks so much for stopping by and for the question. I WISH I had a tutorial on that feather print. I actually bought it on clearance at Target last year. I can’t tell for sure, but I’m pretty sure it’s not a real feather. Hmmm …. I tried spray painting some feathers earlier this month, and it didn’t work at all (they got all clumped together). Sorry to be of no help, but good luck. If you figure it out, I’d love to know how!
      Have a great week!
      XO,
