Halloween Decor

DIY wreath ... wreath form covered in orange yarn, flowers purchased on clearance from JoAnn, a welcome banner made with felt and bias tape.

We’ve never been much for seasonal decorating in our house.  Christmas is about the only holiday we decorate for.  A couple pumpkins by the front door, a fall DIY wreath if we’re lucky, and a bowl full of candy corn is usually about the extent of our Halloween decor.  Someday, I dream of changing out our decor for the seasons … change up our mantles, our throw pillows, some other accessories.  Right now, however I’m just trying to finish decorating our house in general.  Lots of painting to be done … lots of bare walls to fill … some furniture pieces to replace … big boy beds to be purchased …

This season, however, I was inspired to start small.  During nap time one afternoon, I pulled out some of my ‘extra’ accessories (the ones that are sitting in our basement, waiting to either be re-purposed or be sent to Goodwill), and was determined to decorate a couple shelves for Halloween.  It couldn’t get much worse than the before …

The bins down below hold a bunch of books … those need to stay (very necessary!!).  Other than that, the rest can go, as far as I’m concerned.

So here’s what I came up with …

Too much gold?  Maybe without the big gold vase…

And that black frame with glittery circles behind the BOO sign?  A simple black picture frame (also pulled from my basement ‘stash’), glittery paper from JoAnn ($2 total), a circle punch, and some embroidery floss.  I got the fun idea here.
