Friday Faves…Burlap & Lace

I’ve recently become obsessed with burlap and lace.  Why have I never decorated with this before???  I LOVE it!  In case you don’t love this as much as me (or don’t know how much you love it yet), let me try to change your mind.  I’d like one (or five) of each of these, please:

This is simple…and FANTASTIC…Burlap and lace candle:

Simple white candle all fancied up

These cute burlap and lace mason jars sold on Etsy (Love the wooden circles hanging off the twine!!):

Or these fancy votive holders (complete with jewels and pearls!):

Or this fancy gift wrapping idea (I say to myself that I’ll do this for Christmas this year, but I already know I probably will run out of time…):

Must keep this in mind

Or this awesome banner/chair decor/front door decor for a birthday party sold on Etsy (think it’s too girl for my boys’ next party?!?!):

Love this idea!

Do you share my love of burlap and lace yet?  How could you not?!?  SO…it’s nap time, and I need some burlap in my life NOW!  Off to the craft stash, and here’s what I came up with using what I happened to have on hand:

Starting with these bottles which I’ve been saving because I think they have a cool shape:

Here’s the finished product (and they’re still napping):

edited6Here’s the how-to low down:

Gather supplies:

  • 3 glass containers with labels removed
  • 3 pieces of burlap cut to about a 1/2″ longer than the outside of your bottle (I used 6″ burlap from Joann):
  • 3 pieces of lace cut to the same size as burlap above
  • Twine (or ribbon…whatever you like)
  • Glue

Next steps are pretty self-expanitory:

Add glue to burlap and wrap around bottle:

Apply tiny drops of glue to center of lap (you are going to tie twine or ribbon to secure it further, so you don’t need much):

add flowers

Add flowers & display (I went out and cut these odd purple ‘flowers’ from one of our perennials out front … would have love big white hydrangea blooms, but sadly I have none of those growing anywhere near me)!

I’ve decided they make a great centerpiece for our naked kitchen table.  Perfect!  Again … boys are still napping, I was also able to throw some laundry in, AND load the dishwasher…I’d say this nap time was a success!

If you happen to know of any great burlap and lace projects out there, send ’em my way.  I’m pretty sure I need more of this combo in my house!

Happy Friday, and have a great weekend!
