Easy DIY Holiday Wreath

Easy DIY Holiday Christmas Wreath from View From The Fridge

I can’t help it. I am just in the mood to decorate for Christmas a bit early this year.

I blame the snow (more of which is coming today) …

So …. let me tell ya a little story that will make you laugh (or maybe just smile) this Monday morning …

We bought our real Christmas tree, and since we were so early, there was no one there to wrap it up … or cut it … or help us tie it onto the van.

But we thought we could handle it, no problem.

So, with three kiddos, one dog, and in the freezing cold … we finally got our tree securely tied to the top of the van!

Then guess what??!?

UGH ...

UGH …

Turns out … You need to be able to slide the doors closed after securing the tree. Which you can’t do if there’s twine in the way. Minivan rookies!!

So frustrating!!

Switching hears, and on a more positive note …. I did, however, have some success with making a quick wreath:

Tell me … do you have a tree yet (or do you think we’re crazy like the folks at Lowes did when we were buying it)?  Are you a real or faux kinda tree family?  Ever tried to tie it on the minivan before closing the doors?!?

And in case you’re still concerned about our tree … We ended up shoving the whole thing inside the van. Anyone want to come clean pine needles out of every inch of our van now?!?

Did you guesstimate the amount of ribbon you needed to cover the wreath, or is there a way to measure?

My father and I are both allergic to the pollen and sap of pine trees, so we’ve always had a faux tree in my family. As a kid I didn’t know the difference. As a mom, especially after hearing stories like yours, or the dog drank all of the water and knocked it over, or a hundred other “it’s funny NOW”, and the constant watering/cleaning the needles, I think I’m just as glad to stay away from them. 😉
