A Fun & Festive 4th of July BBQ

Happy 4th of July!  While I hope you’re out enjoying the day with some BBQ’ing, fireworks, and maybe a parade thrown in there somehwere, I have a fun post for your today.  Kristina and Millie from 2CrochetHooks are here sharing a festive 4th of July BBQ that they hosted!  Lots of great ideas, cute and simple decorations, and plenty of red, white, and blue … it’s the perfect easy read for today!  Sit back, sip your lemonade, sangria, or favorite IPA and enjoy this post.  Then stop over and give the Mother / Daughter team of Millie (mom) and Kristina (daughter) an big ‘hello’.

Hello everyone! Thank you to Katie for inviting us to guest post here on View From The Fridge! We are Kristina and Millie from 2CrochetHooks and while we normally share fun and easy crafts, today we are sharing our Old Fashioned Family barbecue.

American Flag

There is nothing better than getting together with friends and family to celebrate our Independence!

While we kept decorations to a minimum, we did decorate the canopy with a flag garland and stars.

Knowing the need for space to place the food, one decorated mason jar with red white and blue flowers was our centerpiece.

We had a assortment of dishes – some old favorites, some new.

We made a big bowl of my favorite potato salad. (Secret: use spicy mustard!)

My mother’s secret recipe cole-slaw (add celery seeds and a drop of vinegar). My brothers favorite pasta salad with diced carrots, celery and tomatoes.

Hubby’s fav baked beans (add cinnamon) and his mom’s green beans (add fat back!). Everyone loves burgers with all the fixin’s.

My Grandma’s favorite deviled eggs (dill pickles and cayenne dusting).

We made a batch of lemon-aid and dropped in a frozen bit of strawberry puree.

The children decorated the cupcakes with red and blue sprinkles.

Time to eat, relax and catch up before the fireworks. Hope your day is full of love and friendship!

    Your celebration looks like so much fun! It doesn’t take many decorations to perk up the table especially when you get to work with bright colors. Love your banner. I need a tent like yours, my family has outgrown my patio. Happy 4th!
